Wills, Notary and Other Services

Other services provided by Berry Family Law include Wills, Notary, Foreign Divorce Opinion Letter, Independent Legal Advice and Travel letters.

One of our lawyers can prepare a will for you, or for you and your spouse. We will walk you through the process of taking an inventory of your estate, naming and designating your beneficiaries and dependents, and will draft and execute a will that protects your estate.

A notary can assist you with preparing formal documents for filing with governments and various institutions and organizations, such as notarized pension forms, birth certificates, or creating official copies of important documents.

If you are applying to marry in Ontario and have a foreign divorce, you will require a letter of opinion from a family lawyer that the divorce is valid and you are free to remarry. We can assist you with organizing the necessary documentation and preparing the opinion letter.

If you have attended mediation or negotiation and have a draft Separation Agreement, our lawyers can review the agreement with you and provide Independent Legal Advice to ensure that you fully understand the agreement, it is fair and reasonable and reflects your intentions.

If you are attending a court case as a self-represented person, attending mediation without counsel or want a second opinion, we offer Divorce Coaching, a consultation like series of sessions designed to support you in representing yourself in your separation or divorce.

If your child is travelling outside of Canada without both parents, it is highly advisable to obtain a notarized Travel Letter granting consent to travel. This avoids any issues with Canadian Border Services when leaving or re-entering the country. Our firm can prepare the travel letter and arrange to notarize the non-travelling parents signature to ensure a worry free holiday or vacation.
