Managing Principal

Dedicated Advocacy Through Difficult Times

Susan takes pride in having supported hundreds of clients through difficult circumstances over the past 16 years while practising family law. She grew up in Malton and Bramalea before moving to Oakville in 2007 and becoming a partner at Berry Cage LLP in 2014.

Practical and Strategic Representation

Susan has settled thousands of divorce cases, litigated when necessary, and been very successful when there is no option but a trial. She does not advocate for trial unless necessary, but recognizes that sometimes it is required. In those situations, she becomes a strong, practical, and strategic voice in court.

Built on Respect and Experience

Mutually respectful relationships with colleagues and clients are very important to Susan and are often the best way to advance a case. She graduated from Osgoode Law School in 2006 and received the Albert Weisbrot Prize for Advanced Family Law.

Proven Courtroom Experience

Following the completion of her articling, Susan was called to the Ontario Bar Association in October 2008. She has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Unified Family Court, and the Superior Court of Justice of Canada, achieving success in trials involving parenting, support, and property issues.

Focused on Meaningful Outcomes

Susan’s approach to family law is to focus on the best outcome for you and your family. Once a strategic plan is in place, she dedicates herself and her staff to determining the path that works best after considering the law, your circumstances, and the parties involved.

Pragmatic When Possible, Strong When Necessary

Susan’s modus operandi begins with a friendly and pragmatic approach, always seeking the easiest and simplest solutions. At the same time, she remains ready, willing, and able to fight the good fight if and when necessary.

Beyond the Practice of Law

In her personal time, Susan enjoys singing, walking, and meditating. She also participates in a variety of community festivals and groups, and currently serves as an Advisor to the Eagle Spirits of the Great Waters.
