Meet The Team

Susan Berry

I take pride in having supported hundreds of clients through difficult circumstances throughout the past 16 years, while I have been practising family law. I grew up in Malton and Bramalea, but moved to Oakville in 2007, becoming a partner at Berry Cage LLP in 2014. I have settled thousands of divorce cases, litigated when necessary and been very successful when there is no option but a trial. I do not advocate for going to trial unless necessary, but sometimes, it is necessary. When you are in that situation, let me be the strong practical, strategic voice for you in court. Mutually respectful relationships with colleagues and clients are very important to me and is the best way to advance your case. I graduated from Osgoode Law School in 2006 and was the recipient of the Albert Weisbrot prize for Advanced Family Law. Following the completion of articling, I was called to the Ontario Bar Association in October 2008. I have appeared and argued cases in front of the Ontario Courts of Justice, the Unified Family Court and the Superior Court of Justice of Canada and been successful in winning trials on issues of parenting, support, and property. My approach to family law is to focus on the best outcome for you and your family. Once a strategic plan is in place, I dedicate myself and my staff to achieve our goal, by determining the path that works best for you, once we have factored in the law, your circumstance and those involved. My modus operandi is opening with the friendly and pragmatic approach, always looking for the easiest and simplest solutions, but always ready, willing, and able to fight the good fight if and when necessary. I can assure you that this approach worked in my own personal divorce, which has made me an even better lawyer, In my personal time, I love to sing, walk, and meditate. I participate in a variety of community festivals and groups. At present I serve as an Advisor to the Eagle Spirits of the Great Waters.

Riley

Riley is a 10 year old golden retriever who came to Berry Family Law through a Kijiji ad. Riley’s independent but loving nature was evident throughout his exuberant puppy years, wherein he mastered the art of “selfies” (taking himself on a walk coming back before anyone noticed he was gone), avoiding cats and use of attentive sitting to obtain treats. As a more mature dog, he has learned the difference between rabbits and skunks, when to bark and when not to bark and when he is needed for emotional support. In addition to working at Berry Family Law several days a week, Riley also enjoys long walks at Bronte Park, swimming at the cottage and regular visits to Holland Christian Homes Grace Manner.
